Reuse, Reduce, Support: Design Principles for Green Data Mining

Abstract This paper reports on a design science research (DSR) study that develops principles for “green” – more environmentally sustainable data mining processes. Grounded in the Cross Industry Standard Process Data Mining (CRISP-DM) and review of relevant literature methods, Green IT, IS, identifies eight fall into three categories reuse, reduce, support. The an evaluation strategy provides empirical evidence principles’ utility. It suggests results can inform development general approach towards Science provide suitable lens to computing.
